VERNON, Ala. — Eddie Dean Rushing, 83, died Dec. 7, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Services are at 2 p.m. today at the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with John Johnson and Dan Turman officiating. Burial will follow in Furnace Hill Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. Chandler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Rushing was born Feb. 12, 1934, in Vernon, to the late Zenus and Tennie Stapp. She was formerly employed as a RN at the Lamar County Health Department and was a member of Springfield Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she as preceded in death by her sister, Belva Pennington. She is survived by her husband, Tommie Rushing of Vernon; four daughters, Karen Partain of Caledonia, Debbie Alvis of Dora, Jennifer Bennett of Vernon and Dawn Wigington of Louisville; two sisters, Betty Picklesimer and Sandra Williams; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
