COLUMBUS — Eddie Mae McGowan, 72, died Jan. 19, 2018. Services are at 1 p.m. today at Kingdom Hall. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McGowan was born July 2, 1945, in Brooksville, to the late Sol and Florence Henley Holmes. She attended Brooksville Public School. She was formerly employed as an inspector at Beneke Corporation and as an Avon representative. She later became a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd McGowan; daughter, Florence McGowan; and brother, Dell Henry Holmes. She is survived by her one son, John Samuel Moore, Jr. of Brooksville; four daughters, Jeanette Guyton and Twanda Tate, both of Columbus, Sandra Simpson of Meridian and Allean Pratt of Shreveport, Louisiana; one sister, Damitta Jo Ellison of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother, Booker Holmes of Chicago, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
