Ed “Coon” Weatherspoon, 80, died Feb. 3, 2009, in Columbus. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. James MB Church in Crawford. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 1-6 p.m. at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home of Columbus. Mr. Weatherspoon was born March 7, 1928, to the late Wash and Mary Alice Harris Weatherspoon. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Weatherspoon; daughters, Willa Mae Henderson, Sarah Hairston, Mary Rice, Shirley Carr and Valerie Stevenson, all of Columbus; sons, Wash and Devotis Weatherspoon and Bobby Evans, all of Columbus, and Eddie Weatherspoon of Clarksville, Tenn. Pallbearers will be Willie B. Turner, Willie, Caleb and Antron Weatherspoon, Clifton Summerville and Ronald Tate.
