Durwood House

HAMILTON — Durwood House, 73, died May 20, 2009, at Aurora Australis Lodge in Columbus. Services are today at 1 p.m. at Center Hill Baptist Church with Mason Welch and Bro. Terry Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements. Mr. House was born Aug. 7, 1935, in Hamilton to the late Leonard and Lelia Easter House. He was a lifelong resident of Hamilton where he was co-owner of Durwood’s Grocery. He was a member and deacon of Center Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Durley and Bill House; and three grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Maxie House of Hamilton; daughters, Charlotte Wilson, Sonya Cockerham and Mechelle Welch, all of Hamilton; sons, Randy House of Shreveport, La., and Allen House of Hamilton; sister, Alza Blair of Northport, Ala.; brothers, Herbert House of Tyler, Texas, and Richard House of Manchester, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be deacons of Center Hill Baptist Church.
