BEAVERTON, Ala. — Douglas Darlton Hankins Jr., 82, died May 11, 2010, at the DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Services are today at 5 p.m. at the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeremy Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Springs Cemetery. Visitation is today from 4-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hankins was born in Hickory Flat to the late Douglas Darlton Hankins Sr. and Annie Williams Hankins. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Taylor Springs Freewill Baptist Church. He retired as owner and operator of A&H Cleaners in Vernon, Ala. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Frost and Lucille Crews. Survivors include his wife, Annie Mae Sorrells Hankins, of Beaverton; daughters, Nelda Herron, of Fayette, Ala.; sons, Randy Hankins and David Lynn Hankins, both of Sulligent, Ala.; sister, Maxine Schultz, of Rockford, Ill., four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
