Mrs. Dorothy (Dot) Loftis Hollis, age 88, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018, at Windsor Place Nursing & Rehab in Columbus. Mrs. Hollis will be laid to rest in a graveside service at Piney Grove Cemetery, in Steens, MS, on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 3 PM with Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating. Born July 25, 1930, in Steens, MS, to George Raymond Loftis and Julia Locke Loftis, she graduated from Lee High School in 1949 and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hollis worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. John Allgood for many years before suffering a major stroke in 1968. For the last 10 years, she has suffered from severe dementia and blindness. She was preceded in death by her husband, CR Hollis, Jr.; brothers, George Loftis, James Battle Loftis and John Milton Loftis; and sister, Addie Elizabeth Halbert. She is survived by her daughters, Kay and husband, Steve Ellis of Columbus and Becky Hollis of Arlington, TX; her grandchildren, Meagan Ellis (Jon) Koch of Edmond, OK, Kerry Ellis (Nick) DiTullio of Birmingham, AL, Sergeant Ben Ellis of Ft. Bragg, NC and Kaitlyn Johnston of Louisville, KY; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Maddie and James Koch, Grace Ellis and Jack Farmer.
