ABERDEEN — Doris Evelyn Kemp West, 92, died Feb. 22, 2009, at The Windsor Place in Columbus. Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Aberdeen with Minister Joel Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Beeks Cemetery. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. West was born Feb. 9, 1917, in Louisville to the late Walter and Erma Clay Kemp. She lived most of her life in Aberdeen and the past few years in Columbus. She was a retired seamstress from Seminole Manufacturing. She was a member of East Columbus Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Almontie West; son, David West; six brothers and one sister. She is survived by her sons, W.B. West of Columbus and Jerry West of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; sisters, Dean Jernigan of Louisville and Pauline Fuller of Louisville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be George H. Collins Jr., Rodger A. Collins, Todd Elmore, Mike Fuller, Steve Jernigan and Marcus West.
