SULLIGENT, Ala. — Doris Ruby, 68, died May 24 2009, at her residence. Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. at People’s Tabernacle with Bro. Philip Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Otts Funeral Home in Sulligent, and the body will be at the church Thursday one hour prior to services. Mrs. Ruby was born Sept. 8, 1940, in Lamar County, Ala., to the late Leonard and Ruby Tucker Blaylock. She was a member of People’s Tabernacle. She had previously worked as a seamstress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Ruby; and one granddaughter. She is survived by her sons, Fred Ivan Ruby of Tampa, Fla., Gene Ruby of Beaverton, Ala., Mark Ruby of Arizona, Tom Ruby of Dresden, Tenn.; and Ron, Rodney and Dennis Ruby, all of Sulligent; daughters, Rosetta Blaylock of Milan, Ill., and Rhonda Coleman of Beaverton; brother, Bill Blaylock; sisters, Betty Schiess, Dorthy Wells, Kathy Jester, Laverne Raine, Joann Palmer and Brenda Morgan; 30 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jeff, Brandon, Cory and Jake Ruby, Austin Fisher, Jeff Barnes and Brian Kirkman.
