COLUMBUS — Doris Katherine Hancock, 83, died April 20, 2010, at her residence. A private service will be held at later date. Lowndes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hancock was born Sept. 11, 1926, to the late Ollie Moncrief and Chesley Snell. She was retired from BellSouth as an operator. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Hancock, and brother, Chesley C. Snell. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Howard Trammell, of Alligator Point, Fla. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS 39213. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Lowndes Funeral Home. Eddie Mickens STARKVILLE — Eddie Mickens, 55, died April 15, 2010, at Oktibbeha County Hospital. Services are Thursday at 1 p.m. at Sixteen Section MB Church with the Rev. Charles H. Bell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 1-6 p.m. at West Memorial Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bertha Pernell Mickens; brother, A.C. Weston; sister, Annie Bell Tubbs, and stepfather, Robert Scott Kelly. He is survived by his wife, Verlene Johnson, of Starkville; stepchildren, Therase and Jamie Johnson, both of Starkville; sister, Laura Addison, of Starkville, and Alberta Coton, of Racine, Wis.
