SULLIGENT, Ala. — Donald “Pops” Wayne Watkins, 73, died Feb. 8, 2019, at his residence. Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Otts Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Barham officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Watkins was born Nov. 7, 1945, in Sturgis, to the late Irvin Watkins and Nora Livingston. He was a graduate of Sturgis High School and was self-employed as a drywall and paint contractor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Adams, Marcelene Davis and Fontaine Lee. He is survived by his wife, Betty Watkins of Vernon; sons, Tommy Watkins and Dennis Cunningham, both of Columbus, Glenn Watkins of Tracy City, Tennessee, James Cunningham of Amory and James Watkins of Birmingham; daughters, Deannie Macias and Judy Graham, both of Vernon, Ann Johnson of Starkville and Janice Brasfield of Fulton; brothers, Irvin Watkins Jr. of Birmingham, Mayon Watkins and Theo Watkins, both of Loganville, Georgia; sisters, Odessa Odom and Irene Green, both of Loganville; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Bradley Cunningham, Lee Graham, Johnny Watkins, Joseph Watkins, Nicholas Cunningham, Justin Carter, Daniel Ives and Rodney Johnson.
