Donald Tate

SULLIGENT, Ala. — Donald “Rod” Tate, 81, died March 31, 2021, at his residence.
Funeral services are at 3 p.m. today, at Sulligent Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Boshell Cemetery with Military Honors in Townley, Alabama. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, at Otts Funeral Home. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Tate was born Nov. 23, 1939, in Carbon Hill, Alabama, to the late A.F. Tate and Maybell Fikes Tate. He was a veteran of the Navy and was formerly employed as a preacher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mabel Jean Newcomb.
He is survived by his wife, Mimie Tate; children, Donald Rodney Tate Jr. of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Joseph Tate of Liberty Hill, Texas and Tammy Sides of Collinsville, Texas; siblings, Amelia Snead of Arley, Alabama and Connie Mullins of Jasper, Alabama; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
