David Campbell Elliott, age 57, of Columbus, MS, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018, at MS State Veteran’s Home, Kosciusko, MS. Mr. Elliott was born on March 17, 1961, in Kittery, ME, to the late George Edward and Sheila Davina Campbell Elliott. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1984. Both his father and brother were United States Air Force veterans. Mr. Elliott served as a pharmacy technician from 1984-1988. He then reclassified into Air Traffic Controller and excelled until his retirement in 2004. His tours of duty included Bosnia and a one year deployment in South Korea. During his twenty years of service, he was stationed at Langley Air Force Base, Dobbins Air Force Base and MacDill Air Force Base. Mr. Elliott retired out of MacDill Air Force Base in 2004. He then moved to Columbus, MS and began 13 years of civilian Air Traffic Controller at Golden Triangle Regional Airport, up until his resignation after two untimely strokes that led to a year of long term care until his death at the Kosciusko VA Home on November 3, 2018. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and love of family. Mr. Elliott was loved by many and met very few whose life he did not touch in some way. He will be very dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his brother, George Elliott. Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife, Sally Elliott of Columbus, MS; son, Zachary Elliott; daughter, Hannah Elliott; sisters, Laura Williams and Debra Hammond; three nephews; and two nieces. Lowndes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
