MILLPORT, Ala. — Claudine Owens Shelton, 84, died May 3, 2009, at Salem Nursing Home in Reform, Ala. Services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Liberty Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Chester Shaw and Doug Blakney officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, Ala., and the body will be at the church Wednesday one hour prior to services. Mrs. Shelton was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Fayette, Ala., to the late Pinkney and Rona Lee Owens. She had lived in the Liberty Community for 60 years and was a member of Liberty Assembly of God. She was retired from working at Westinghouse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Winford Lee Shelton; son, James Lee Shelton; sisters, Betty Basher and Lily Pearson; and brother, Lester Owens. She is survived by her son, Tommy Shelton of Fayette; sister, Vaudine Howard of Kennedy, Ala.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Wes, Dale and Allen Shelton, Kenny A. Stripling Jr., and Floyd and Robert Owens.
