STEENS — Charlie Prowell Jr., 90, died March 22, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center of West Point. Services were Saturday at Military Chapel United Methodist Church in Steens. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Lee Sykes Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Prowell was born April 20, 1939, in Columbus to the late Charlie Prowell Sr. and Gladys Perkins Prowell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie and Jimmy Prowell, and sisters, Essie Mary and Martha Prowell. He is survived by his wife, Georgetta Moore; children, Danny Ray Prowell, of Orlando, Fla., Gregory O’Neal Prowell, of Steens, Audra Cassandra Moss, of Tarboro, N.C., and Nina Yvette Prowell, Tanya Lenell Johnson, Nerissa D. Murray and Tashmia Moss, all of Columbus; brothers, Leon Prowell, of Madison, Fla., Norman Prowell, of Orlando, Robert Prowell, of Columbus, and George Washington Prowell, of Sulligent, Ala.; sisters, Mary Hill of Aliceville, Ala., Gladys Walker and Lucy Casey, both of Columbus, and Emma Stewart of Houston; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
