Charles Jerome Younger, age 78, of Columbus died June 12, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 14, 2009, at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating and Gunter & Peel Funeral Home directing. A private family committal service will be immediately following at the Younger Family Cemetery. Visitation will also be Sunday, June 14, 2009, from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church. Mr. Younger was a born on July 9, 1930 in Pickens County, AL to the late Roy Allen and Charlie Lee Fondren Younger, Sr. Mr. Younger was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. Mr. Younger worked as a dairy farmer and rural mail carrier before being elected as Justice of the Peace Judge in 1967. He was elected and served as Chancery Clerk of Lowndes County from 1983 until his retirement in 2003. Mr. Younger was a member of the First Baptist Church, Columbus Host Lions Club, and the Gideons. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Woolbright, and brothers, Taylor and Joe Younger. Mr. Younger is survivied by his wife of 56 years, Adrine Scarborough Younger of Columbus; son, Chuck Younger (Missy) of Columbus; daughters, Lisa Younger Neese (Michael), Tami Younger Guyton (Mickey), Pam Younger Henderson (Joey), and Danielle “D. J.” Joy Younger Williams (Jason) all of Columbus; brothers, Roy Allen Younger, Jr. (Betty) and Ted Younger (Marlene) both of Columbus; sister, Marjorie Cox of Decatur, AL; and grandchildren, Joely K. Henderson, JoAnna Younger, Colton Younger, Stance Henderson, Michael Albert Younger, and Hope Williams, all of Columbus. Pallbearers will be Joey Henderson, Mickey Guyton, Michael Neese, Jason Williams, Dow Phillips, Colton Younger, Stance Henderson, and Albert Younger.
