Charles Edward Greer, 61, died June 19, 2009 at the University Hospital in Jackson. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive MB Baptist Church in Millport, Ala., with the Rev. Benny W. Henry officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport is in charge of the arrangements. He was born June 26, 1947, in North Carolina to the late Mary Elizabeth Carter and Benjamin F. Greer. He was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. He organized the Sibyl Greer Scholarship Fund. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Marie Johnson Greer; a stepson, Daryl L. Lawson, and two siblings. He is survived by his sister, Sally Headen; and brother, Benjamin F. Greer, both of Greensboro, N. C. Memorials may be made to Mt. Olive MBC Scholarship Fund.
