COLUMBUS — Carrie Summerville, 88, died March 6, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Will Smith Jr. officiating. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. today, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Summerville was born June 15, 1933, in Crawford, to the late Carrie Newman and Booker T. Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Summerville; son, Barry Lee Smith; and siblings, Will Smith, Bob Newman, William Smith, Willie Smith, Hatta Rena Newman, Bessie Newman, Martha Ann Washington and Ollie Mae Smith.
She is survived by her children, Diane Thomas, Lisa Sampson, Denise Strong, all of Columbus, Chandra Lanford of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Gerry Summerville of Sulligent, Alabama and Anthony Summerville of Columbus; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
