WEST POINT — Carey Williams Matthews, 46, died May 11, 2009, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Services are Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Union Star Missionary Baptist Church in West Point. Burial will follow at church cemetery. Visitation is today from 3-6 p.m. at the Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel in West Point. He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Lee Manning. He is survived by his father, Mack Henry White Manning of Chicago; son, Cary Williams Matthews Edwards of West Point; daughter, Regina Lafay Matthews Walker of West Point; brothers, Johnny Matthews of Starkville, Sanders Matthews of Chicago, and James Matthews Jr. of Wind Heaven, Fla.; sisters, Lucille Blair and Flora Henderson, both of Starkville, Jettie Pearl Collins, Shirley Matthews and Mary L. Edwards, all of West Point, and Rosies Matthews of Chicago; and three grandchildren.
