Bruce Dunlap, 68, passed away Tuesday, March 17, at his home in Yazoo City. Visitation will be Thursday, March 19, from 5-7 p.m.at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City. Services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2009, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Yazoo City. Interment will follow in Egger Cemetery in Caledonia. Bruce was born on May 3, 1940, in Lake City, Arkansas. He later graduated from Arkansas State University. After serving on the bank examination force with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Bruce moved to Belzoni in 1964 where he began his career with Guaranty Bank & Trust Company, serving as Executive Vice President and as a member of the Board of Directors. After a 20 year tenure, he launched a second career in the catfish industry. He was active in the Catfish Farmers of America, the Catfish Farmers of Mississippi, and the Catfish Bargaining Association. Survivors include his wife Myra Lockhart Dunlap of Yazoo City; two sons Mike (Cheryl) Dunlap of Brandon, Mississippi, and Mark (Monique) Dunlap of Nashville, Tennessee; his daughter Tiffany (Derek) Phillips of Longview, Texas; and six grandchildren, Alec Dunlap, Ivy Dunlap, and Summer Dunlap of Brandon; August Phillips of Longview Texas; and Noah Dunlap and Mia Dunlap of Nashville, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents Harmon and Eula Dunlap and brother Charles Dunlap.
