PRAIRIE — Booker Thomas Carter, 69, died April 3, 2009, at Regency Hospital-Jackson. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lake Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Prairie with the Rev. J.P. Orr officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel in West Point. Mr. Carter was born Nov. 26, 1939, in West Point to the late James and Francis Carter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Melvin L. Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Viola Johnson Carter; daughters, Jacqueline C. Houston of Jackson and Debbie J. Dogan of Prairie; and brothers, James M. Carter of Prairie, Theotis Carter of Cleveland, Ohio, and Dewell Carter of West Point.
