COLUMBUS — Billy Gene Betts, 84, died Dec. 23, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Arrangements will be announced by Lowndes Funeral Home at a later time. Mr. Betts was born May 14, 1933, to the late William B. and Eugenia Wells Betts. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jesse Betts. He is survived by his wife, Doris Betts of Columbus; daughters, Laura Hoff of Jacksonville, Florida and Betty Vowell of McKenzie, Texas; son, William Betts of Smithville, North Carolina; sister, Linda Hollowell; brothers, Harold Betts of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Tommy Betts; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
