WEST POINT — Billy S. Yarbrough, 70, died April 10, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Services are Monday at 2 p.m. at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home Chapel with Willis Logan officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Church of Christ Cemetery in Steens. Visitation is today from 6-9 p.m. at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mr. Yarbrough was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Lowndes County to the late Charlie and Sammie Adair Yarbrough. He was a CPA employed with MSC Industrial Specialist as comptroller until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the Woodlawn Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Merlene Logan Yarbrough; brother, Charles Yarbrough; sister, Floy Sanders; and granddaughter, Stephanie M. Denney. He is survived by his wife, Sammie Talbert Yarbrough; daughters, Theresa Denney and Patsy Bensend Jr., both of West Point; son, Steve Yarbrough of Caledonia; stepson, Chris Talbert of Columbus; sister, Ruby Hudson of Vernon, Ala.; and 12 grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Garvin and Brandon Yarbrough, David and Marvin Bensend III, Josh Scarborough, James Denney, J.K. Forrester, and Joey Lewis. Memorial may be made to Columbus Lowndes Humane Society, 13 Airline Rd., Columbus, MS 39702.
