AMORY — Beverly L. Jernigan Hood, 53, died Feb. 2, 2010, at her residence. Services are Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with the Rev. Glyn Wiygul officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Visitation is Friday from 5-8 p.m., and until service time on Saturday. Mrs. Hood was born Nov. 15, 1956, in Abilene, Texas, to Betty J. Lester-Dailey and the late Leonard E. Jernigan. Beverly was a lifelong resident of Mississippi having lived in Hattiesburg, Gulfport and Amory. She attended Gulfport East, where she was a cheerleader. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Kennon Hood, of Amory; sons, L. Bryan Brister, of Charlotte, N.C., and Joey Hood, of Austin, Texas; daughters, Ashley Hood Schermerhorn, of Ocean Springs, Erynne Hood Messina, of Jacksonville, N.C., and Melissa Hood Gischel, of Jackson; sister, Rhonda Eid, of Gulfport; and a granddaughter. Pallbearers are Jimmy Schermerhorn, Erick Larson, Ed Hood, Naveed Alim, Mark Watts and Tyler Eid. Memorials may be made to the Amory Humane Society, 1317 Old Highway 6, Amory MS 38821.
