ABERDEEN — Bessie Mae Whitworth Barnes died July 20, 2012, at her residence. Services are Monday at 2 p.m. at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Tony Rooks officiating. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Visitation is today from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Ms. Barnes was born in Monroe County to the late Raymond Douglas and Hattie Cantrell Whitworth. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She retired as supervisor for Sharp Garment Plant and was member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Garry Barnes; sisters, Ethel Lavender, Emmer Jane Jackson; brothers, Hank and Jim Whitworth. She is survived by her son, Jay Barnes of Aberdeen; daughter, Wanda Kay Jones of Amory; sisters, Delma Yates of Hamilton, Dorothy Mayben and Lottie Jackson, both of Aberdeen; special friend, Mike Tkaez; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kenny Barnes, Lee Mayben, Eddie Ruth, Doyle Jenkins, Mark Ray and Sonny Clay.
