WEST POINT — Beatrice Davis Southern, 94, died June 27, 2009, in West Point. Graveside services are Monday at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. David Schultz officiating. Visitation is today from 5-7 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home. Mrs. Southern was born Jan. 5, 1915, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to the late Nan Fancher and Fred Davis. She was a former owner of Compton Grocery of Murff Row, and later established the Kwik Shop Food Store with her husband. She was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Southern; three sisters and a brother. She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Walker of West Point. Pallbearers will be Mac Steadman, Joey Michel, Jimmy Pee, Sonny Duke, David Ducan, Brad Gable, Jimmy Stevenson, and Gene Baldwin.
