Barbara Dickey

Barbara Annette Williams Dickey, 85, of Columbus, MS passed away on March 25, 2022, at her residence.
Visitation will be Friday, April 1, 2022, at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM, with Shawn Dickey officiating.
Mrs. Dickey was born in
Quitman, GA, to the late Henry Elisha Williams and Ruth McGhee Ellis Williams, on December 26, 1936. She married Charles Quay Dickey in 1957, in Valdosta, GA. Mrs. Dickey retired from Columbus Air Force Base in 1992 after serving for 31 years. She served as Secretary to the Commander for 18 years and Base Historian for the last two years of service. Mrs. Dickey was a member of the Seventh Street Church of Christ where she was director of nursing home ministry for 18 years. She was an avid bread baker and loved to entertain and host parties for Kathy Cadden’s swim exercise classes and the nursing home ministry. Mrs. Dickey had a special love for children and older people.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dickey was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Quay Dickey; and seven siblings, Julian Williams, Leighton Williams, Evelyn Hassell, Evelyn Yeoman, Jimmy Williams, Charles F. Ellis and Glenn T. Ellis.
Mrs. Dickey is survived by her daughter, Sharon Dickey; her sons, Shawn Dickey and Shannon Dickey; her sisters, Willie Pearl Montalbano of Birmingham, AL and Tommie Mitchell of Pavo, GA; sister-in-law, Claudette Williams, Quitman, GA; four grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her Nursing Home Ministry Group, Life Group and E6 class from church.
