SULLIGENT, Ala. — Barbara Jean Comer, 62, died Oct. 25, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Services are 12:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent with Ed Broadway officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Millport, Alabama. Visitation is from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. prior to service at the funeral home. Mrs. Comer was born April 10, 1956, in Vernon, Alabama, to the late Eugene McGee and Biddie Lou Thomas. She was a graduate of Lamar County High School and attended Bevill State Community College where she was on the Dean’s list. Barbara was the co-leader of the TOPS Program and a member of Mulberry Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Amy Andrews. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Comer of Sulligent; stepmother, Pat Merchant McGee; daughters, Tanya Hamilton of Guin, Alabama and Gail Jackson of Sulligent; stepdaughters, Melanie Turner of Hernando, Tammy Demissie of Montevallo, Alabama and Monica Moore of Cement, Oklahoma; sisters, Ann Godrey of Millport, Alabama and Janet Harley of Kingman, Arizona; stepsister, Laura Vice of Millport, Alabama; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
