ETHELSVILLE, Ala. — Arthur Lee Richardson, 85, died Feb. 20, 2009, at his residence. Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Ethelsville, Ala., with the Rev. L. Andrew Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is today from noon-8 p.m. at Lavender Funeral Services of Aliceville, Ala. Mr. Richardson was born March 5, 1923, in Ethelsville to the late Ward and Kittie Richardson. He was employed with Airline Manufacturing Co. in Columbus for 26 years. He was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Providence Mass Choir president for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Otis and Theotis Richardson; sisters, Fannie Horton and Castella Sherrod; and one granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Neal Richardson; children, Arthur Richardson Jr. of Reform, Ala., Evelyn Beard, Willetta Conner, Chester and Selvin Richardson, and Faye Colom, all of Columbus, Alna and Ella Richardson, Merscil Stephenson and Perlinca Sherrod, all of Ethelsville, Ala., Barbara Munson of Huntsville, Ala., and Surenell McCrary of Steens; sisters, Luevinue Sherrod, and Theresa Horton and Anniestein Holcom; brothers, Lepo and Joe Lee Richardson; 36 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ray, Michael, Otis, and James Richardson, Ezell Sherrod and Terry Horton.
