SHUQUALAK – Annie Mary Hill Shields, 86, died Feb. 4, 2021. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Cotton Cemetery, with Clifford Lewis officiating. Lee-Sykes of Macon is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Shields was born Nov. 11, 1934, in Shuqualak, to the late Alonzo Hill Jr. and Pauline Slaughter Hill. She attended Shuqualak High School No. 2 and was formerly employed as a homemaker. She was a member of Jesus Christ at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Shields; children, Arthur Nathaniel Shields, Walter Rogers Shields, Clemmie Earl Jones and Carolyn Jones; siblings, Floyzell Hill, Addie Hill Foster, Lousie Hill Garland, James Edward Hill, Earlean Hill Garner, Herbert Hill, Shirley Hill Gaston, Henry Lee “Jimmy” Hill, Ruthie Mary Hill Nicholson and Frank Edward Hill; and one grandchild. She is survived by her children, Debra Jones Cotton, Mable Louise Jones Dancy of Shuqualak and Joyce Johnson Willis of Omaha, Nebraska; siblings, Elizabeth Hill Hunt and Velma Hill Jenkins; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
