Annie Robertson Lagrone, age 86, of Steens, MS, died March 18, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Friday, March 20, 2009, at 10:00 AM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home with Charles Curtis officiating. The interment will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery in Steens. Visitation will be Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Mrs. Lagrone was born July 9, 1922, in Steens, MS, to the late Andrew Jackson and Rubye Perkins Robertson. She was a lifelong resident of Steens and 1941 graduate of Caledonia High School. Mrs. Lagrone worked as an inspector at Seminole Manufacturing until 1946 and then went to work at the Steens Post Office where she was appointed Postmaster in April of 1965. The new Steens Post Office was erected during her tenure. She retired in 1994 to take care of her husband, E. N. Lagrone, Jr. who passed away in 1996. Mrs. Lagrone was a member of the Steens Church of Christ and was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, J. P. Robertson, Sr., Owen Robertson, Frances R. McCarty, Rubye Agnes Robertson, Clareene R. Curtis, Evelyn R. Wright, Douglas Robertson, Sr., and mother-in-law, Letha Lagrone. Mrs. Lagrone is survivied by her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Leighton Richards of Montgomery, AL and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Lee Gallop, J. P. Robertson, Jr., Bobby Porter, David Curtis, George Curtis, Danny Richards, Jay Dahlem, Harold Speed, and Doug Robertson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Steens Church of Christ and Steens Community, members of Lone Oak Church of Christ and her very special caregivers..
