WHEATLEY HEIGHTS, N.Y. — Andrew B. Wells Sr., 57, died April 30, 2009, at his residence. Services were held May 8, 2009, at Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Amityville, N.Y. Burial followed at Pinelawn Memorial Park. M.A. McConnell Funeral Home in Huntington Station, N.Y., was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wells was born in Pickensville, Ala. He was a businessman who founded a school bus company, as well as a landscaping and snowplowing business. He had worked for 34 years at Woodbury Health Nursing Home as a porter and later as a supervisor of housekeeping. He also worked at a chemical plant for about eight years and at Central Island nursing home for 12 years. He started a landscaping business in the late 1980s called Wells & Wells Landscaping and Snowplowing. He drove for a school bus company in Huntington, N.Y., and later started his own bus company, Wells & Wells Equipment. He expanded to create a second company called Touch of Class Coach. He moved to Wheatley Heights about 10 years ago. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Nell; and son, Anthony. He is survived by his daughters, Denise Wells and Andrea Rowe, both of Wheatley Heights; son, Andrew Wells Jr. of Mastic, N.Y.; brothers, Richard of Marietta, Ga., U.L. of Holbrook, N.Y.; Van of Huntington Station, N.Y., and Ray of Lithonia, Ga.; sisters, Mary and Rose Wells, both of Huntington, Ella Wells of Huntington Station, and Patricia Gordon of Melville, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
