COLUMBUS — Anderson “Big And” Tate Jr., 62, died Sept. 30, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, at Sandfield Cemetery, with the Rev. Barnell Tate officiating. Visitation will be from noon-5 p.m. Saturday, at Carter’s Funeral Services. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Tate was born May 30, 1960, in Bigbee Valley, to the late Anderson Tate Sr. and Anne Tate. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve and was a graduate of Caldwell High School. He was formerly employed with Bryan Foods, J.C, Penny and ISS Mall Services.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sibling, Rufus Lee Tate.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Tate; children, Anderson Tate III, Natalie Tate, Quincy Lavender, Deandre Johnson, all of Columbus; siblings, Margaret Hill of Conyers, Georgia, Shirley Tate Williams, Frederick Tate, both of Columbus, Johnny Washington of Chicago; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Vantee Summerville, Terry Hill, Coby Williams, Freddie Bush, Greg Washington and Eddie Tate.
