The Dispatch is launching a weekly news podcast this week that will focus on political issues in Columbus and Lowndes County.
“Between the Headlines,” is hosted by Zack Plair, Dispatch managing editor, and David Chism, an area businessman who chairs the Lowndes County Republican Party. The goal for the podcast is to provide analysis and commentary on local issues and give listeners a behind-the-scenes perspective on how the news is covered.
The first episode dropped last night and focuses on the drama already generated by this year’s municipal election campaigns.
“The goal of our Opinion Page has always been to encourage insightful commentary on local news,” said Peter Imes, Dispatch publisher. “‘Between the Headlines’ is just one more way we’re going to do that. The convenience of being able to listen to a podcast on your own schedule has caused the medium to explode in recent years.”
Episodes are recorded each Thursday and will typically be available Friday morning on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other popular podcast platforms. All episodes will be available at cdispatch.com/podcast.
