The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting involving a Lowndes County sheriff’s deputy, according to a press release the sheriff’s office issued Friday.
The press release said deputies responded at about 1:08 p.m. to a disturbance at 123 Granderson Drive. As deputies arrived, “an incident evolved that led to an officer-involved shooting,” it continued.
Neither the male suspect nor deputy were injured in the shooting, the release said, but the suspect was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for injuries he sustained during the disturbance before officers arrived.
LCSO Chief Deputy Brent Swan told The Dispatch Saturday the sheriff’s office had “no updates” beyond the Friday press release.
