Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency will give face masks the public Saturday in hopes of helping curb the spread of COVID-19.
EMA Director Cindy Lawrence said the organization hopes to distribute up to 20,000 masks from 14 different locations around the county from 9:30-11 a.m.
Mississippi EMA provided the masks to the county.
“It’s to protect, if you have the coronavirus, from spreading it to someone else,” Lawrence said. “We’re just trying to slow the spread of the virus here in Lowndes County.”
Citizens can pick the masks up from one of the following locations Saturday: 37 South Front St. in Artesia; 365 Main St. in Crawford; 169 Main St. in Caledonia; 2920 New Hope Road in New Hope; 824 Blalock Road in Steens; 52 Shady Lane in Concord; 54 West Minnie Vaughn Road in Plum Grove; West Lowndes Elementary (1000 Gilmer Wilburn Road); 128 Jess Lyons Road; 850 Anderson Grove Road; 63 Miller Drive; District 5 Fire Station 1 (4018 Old West Point Road); District 5 Fire Station 2 (241 South Frontage Road); 3440 West Lindsey Ferry Road; and Victory Christian Academy at 100 Victory Loop.
