A Kosciusko woman is dead and the man she was riding with injured following a one-vehicle crash Wednesday night.
Officers responded just after 9 p.m. to the wreck on Military Road, near the intersection of Black Creek Road, where a sports utility vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree, Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant said in a text message to media Thursday.
First responders had to cut the passenger, Shonteka Hazley, 31, from the vehicle. She was then taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, where she was pronounced dead. The male driver suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to another hospital.
Columbus police are investigating the crash.
