Columbus-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce President Lisa James will be leaving the organization in July and moving to Texas.
James’ husband, Columbus Air Force Base instructor pilot Capt. Joshua James, has been assigned to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he will continue training as an F-16 pilot for the United States Air Force’s Air Combat Command.
“It is truly bittersweet,” Lisa James said in a press release from the Chamber and the Golden Triangle Development LINK on Tuesday afternoon. “As excited as we are to begin this new chapter, Columbus has been so good to us, and I will always remember our time here as some of the best years of my life.”
James has served as president of the chamber since August 2016 after serving as director of programs and events. During her tenure as president, James recruited 182 new members, and the chamber maintained a 90.02 percent retention rate.
“I think Lisa James is the best chamber director that we’ve had here in my 18 years here,” LINK CEO Joe Max Higgins said in the release. “We’re going to miss her and her family.”
A search for James’ replacement is underway. Interested applicants can send their resumes to Maggie Wilson at [email protected].
