STARKVILLE — A man is in stable condition after being shot near Cook Out restaurant on Highway 12 early Sunday morning.
The victim was taken to OCH Regional Medical Center and later to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with non-life-threatening injuries, OCH Director of Emergency Services Michael Hunt said. The man was shot in the extremities, according to a Starkville Police Department press release, but Hunt could not provide more specific details.
“We believe this altercation began at a local venue and further escalated in the area of Cookout,” the press release says.
SPD does not know how many people were involved in the altercation, public information officer Sgt. Brandon Lovelady said. No suspects are in custody.
