Authorities have captured the suspect in a Friday afternoon shooting in the Cracker Barrel restaurant on 18th Avenue North.
Tennessee Highway Patrol officers located and arrested Robert Beck, 28, in Cookeville, Tennessee, early Saturday morning, according to a Columbus police press release. Details of Beck’s arrest have not been released.
Beck faces an aggravated assault charge for allegedly entering the Cracker Barrel Friday and shooting a member of the management team in the dining room. Beck was reportedly looking for his girlfriend, who is employed at the restaurant.
The male victim was taken by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, where he is in stable condition.
CPD Chief Fred Shelton said the city is working with Tennessee law enforcement to have Beck released to Columbus custody. That will likely happen next week, the press release said.
