A Columbus woman was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing at least $1,500 from the store where she worked.
Shemekeo Latrice Hayden, 38, of 166 Swedenberg Circle, has been charged with embezzlement. Officers with Columbus Police Department arrested her Tuesday after the local grocery store where she worked reported missing more than $1,500, according to a press release. The store also reported Hayden gave discounts or simply gave away multiple items to customers.
The funds went missing over a period from late February to late March.
CPD did not identify the store, citing a policy against identifying crime victims.
Hayden was released from Lowndes County Adult Detention Center Tuesday on $5,000 bond.
