A Lowndes County man was hospitalized with serious injuries and his wife arrested for attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed him Wednesday.
Charity Jasandra Harkins, 28, of 10569 Highway 69 S., turned herself in to Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday on the charge.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at Harkins’ home Wednesday shortly after midnight after the victim’s mother called saying her son was being attacked, according to the initial police report. Deputies arrived at the scene to find the victim’s father there. Deputies found a trail of blood on the front porch which led into and throughout the house.
According to Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Greg Wright, deputies found the victim, a 54-year-old man, outside.
“He was covered in blood,” Wright said. “He was holding his stomach region.”
Wright said the victim had a serious injury to his lower abdomen. Witnesses identified the suspect as Harkins, the victim’s wife.
An ambulance took the victim to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Wright did not know the victim’s status by press time.
Harkins’ bond has not been set and she is currently in custody at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
