A Lowndes County man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting an elderly relative.
Thomas Savely Jr., 58, of 67 Jess Lyons Road, Unit E, allegedly attacked his victim at the home they share over the weekend. Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested him early Sunday and charged him with domestic violence-aggravated assault.
Savely’s 80-year-old victim was treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for injuries to her hands and face, LCSO Capt. Ryan Rickert said. She was released after receiving stitches in her hand.
Based on Savely’s behavior and evidence investigators found at the scene, authorities believe Savely may have been influenced by drugs, Rickert said.
Savely is in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center with bond set at $25,000.
