A Lowndes County man is in jail after he allegedly broke a family member’s jaw during an altercation on his wedding day.
Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies arrested Cory McGee, 20, on Wednesday for domestic violence-aggravated assault after responding to a disturbance call at a Wiley Road residence.
According to the arrest affidavit, McGee and his newlywed wife began to argue after she claimed she might have made a mistake because she didn’t want to be married. When another adult female relative attempted to break up the argument, McGee allegedly kneed that woman in the jaw. Subsequent X-rays at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle revealed the victim’s jawbone was broken.
Wednesday’s incident is the fourth time McGee has been in trouble for domestic violence but the first aggravated assault charge he’s faced. He’s twice been convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence-simple assault and was served an indictment on Monday for a third such offense, making that a felony as well.
McGee is being held in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center without bond.
