Two people were taken to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries after a shooting at a home in West Point on Thursday.
The two victims were treated and released, and officers with the West Point Police Department are still looking for the two assailants, according to a press release.
Officers responded to the home on South Grove Street at about 2 a.m. Thursday after a neighbor called 911 to report hearing gunshots. Those in the home told police the suspects had entered the residence and fired multiple shots. One person in the home returned fire, though investigators do not believe he hit anyone. The two suspects fled on foot.
The person who returned fire was not injured. The two victims who were injured were from out of state, the press release said. One was treated and released from a local hospital, while the other was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo and later released.
One of the suspects was described as wearing a black ski mask and gray shirt.
Police are still investigating the incident and have asked anyone with information on the case to call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151 or WPPD at 494-1244.
