A Columbus teenager is behind bars for allegedly shooting into the residence of a murder victim weeks before the victim died.
Capt. Brent Swan with Columbus Police Department said 18-year-old Quinton Morris, who was arrested last week, is accused of shooting into the College Street home of D’Shawn Boyd, who was found shot to death near his burned out vehicle last November.
The alleged shooting into Boyd’s residence occurred the night of Oct. 14, 2016, according to a CPD press release, when the victim wasn’t home.
Boyd, 18, was found dead near the 1800 block of Eighth Avenue South early the morning of Nov. 28, 2016, after first responders with Columbus Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene to put out a grass fire. His death was ruled a homicide.
Swan declined to comment on whether Morris is a suspect in Boyd’s murder, citing department policy not to comment on ongoing investigations.
Morris is being held in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. His bond is set at $50,000.
