Columbus Light and Water will host a meeting Thursday at Sim Scott Park to teach residents about energy efficiency.
CLW General Manager Todd Gale said the meeting will be held from 6-7 p.m.
Gale said the meeting will focus on how to be energy efficient as the winter sets in. The winter is a second peak season, after summer, for energy usage.
“It’s about keeping your bill low in the winter time,” he said. “We’ve been hanging out door hangers when we can in the neighborhoods.”
The neighborhood meeting is one of several CLW has hosted this year since receiving a $1.6 million grant from the Tennessee Valley Authority to make energy-efficiency improvements to local homes. CLW partnered with energy firm CLEAResult for the program, which focuses on reducing electricity usage by addressing air leaks, poor weather sealing, insulation, heating and cooling upgrades, duct seals and other issues. Qualifying homes must be at least 20 years old and have primarily electric heating and water heating.
