CARRIERE — For the second time, a pet dog in south Mississippi has gone into the woods and returned home with a human bone.
Multiple news outlets report that the black Labrador retriever found a femur Monday in Pearl River County, near the Louisiana state line.
The same dog found a human skull about three months ago.
Authorities are doing DNA tests to determine if the bones are from the same body.
Steve Seal, chief of the Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department, used his bloodhound, Bo, to find what might be the rest of the body. Seal tied a T-shirt around the Labrador retriever’s neck and let the Lab run in the woods again. When it returned, Bo sniffed the shirt and used that scent to track where the Lab had gone.
