A Pickens County, Alabama teacher previously charged with multiple counts of having sex with a student now faces an additional 16 charges.
Charli Parker was arrested Monday and charged with one count of second degree burglary, two counts of third degree burglary, one count of distribution of alcohol to a student and 12 counts of a teacher engaging in sexual acts with a student under 19, according to District Attorney Chris McCool.
In March, Parker was charged with 11 counts of engaging in sexual acts with a student under 19, bringing the total number of charges to 27.
The charges stem from encounters with two different students, McCool said. The burglary charges stem from being in the residences or in a building on the property where the students lived.
Parker’s bond was set at $400,000.
The alleged crimes took place from October 2015 to March 2016, according to McCool. The first 11 charges all occurred at Parker’s home in Carrollton, a Reform, Alabama home and Reform’s Graham Cemetery.
Parker’s husband, James Parker, was also charged with six counts of a teacher engaging in a sexual act with a student in March. His alleged crimes occurred at the Parkers’ residence in Carrollton.
Both were teachers at Pickens Academy, a private Christian school in Carrollton when the alleged crimes took place. The crimes did not take place on Pickens Academy property, McCool said.
Pickens Academy headmaster Branch White announced in March that Charli Parker was suspended from her position as a basketball coach and elementary computer teacher at the school, which serves both elementary and high school students.
The couple faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted. Their trail date is set for November, McCool said.
