The Starkville Police Department charged a mother with aggravated assault Thursday after her newborn baby tested positive for drugs.
Amanda Robinson, 34, no address given, was charged with aggravated assault – manifesting extreme indifference to human life – after cocaine and marijuana was found in her newborn’s system.
Robinson gave birth to the child last month, according to a police department release.
She was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail, and her bond is set at $25,000.
Robinson’s initial court date is scheduled for 6 p.m. July 25.
