The Columbus Police Department has the suspect of a weekend shooting in custody after he turned himself in to the department.
Tyquina “Ty” Kidd, 19, turned himself in Tuesday. CPD had requested public aid in finding him after the shooting, which sent one person to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, authorities say.
CPD Chief Oscar Lewis said Kidd should have his initial court appearance today.
CPD received a “shots fired” call at the Sprint Mart on Highway 69 South about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Officers found several vehicles had been hit with gunfire, as well as the front door of the business, according to a CPD release.
About 20 minutes after the shooting occurred, a person identified by CPD only as a 23-year-old arrived at the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the ankle. CPD said the person was injured during the Spring Mart shooting.
